The meeting only took five minutes but the result bought Saugeen Shores a lot more time to finish some road work under the Connecting Links program.
Mayor Mike Smith says Council met to approve a bylaw authorizing an extension to the Connecting Link funding deadline for road and sewer work being done on Goderich Street, between Tomlinson Drive and Concession Road 10.
Smith says they’re merely meeting the conditions the province has laid down in the matter.
He says all that really needs to be done to that section of roadway now is the paving but they have to wait for the hot-mix plants to open for the season.
Smith says the contractor should have the work completed in the area before the summer tourist season begins.
The original deal with the province called for the work to be completed in 2009 but that hasn’t happened.
