Owen Sound is thinking music is good year round — not just in the summer.
The ever popular summer outdoor concert series in the city, Harbour Nights, runs from June until September.
Now a new series, Harbour Nights Discoveries, will fill the remainder of the year with music.
The series — just like the series in the summer — is free and will run the last Sunday of every month.
Owen Sound Event Facilitator Doug Cleverly says it all kicks off today at the Legion.
Cleverley says the first act to be featured in the series is the Black Family — the popular group from Markdale.
Cleverley says the series is sure to be popular as it will feature a variety of music, much like the outdoor series, from folk to jazz to pop.
He says it is also based on the same values as the outdoor series, which is to focus on emerging local talents.
He adds the concerts are free but donations are always welcomed.
Cleverley is excited to get the whole series started as the indoor concerts will run March thru May and then pick up again after the summer and run October through December.
The concert starts at 7 PM tonight at the Royal Canadian Legion in Owen Sound on 2nd Avenue West.
