How sweet it is this weekend at the Saugeen Bluffs Conservation area.
The Saugeen Conservation Foundation is hosting their 39th annual Old Thyme Maple Syrup Festival at the Saugeen Bluffs Conservation area today and tomorrow.
Manager of Communication Shannon Wood says they always have excellent attendance — upwards of seven thousand people are expected over the course of the two day event.
Wood says they believe strongly in hands on activities and getting all in attendance involved.
Some of the events include nail driving, pancake eating, live entertainments, wagon rides and of course lots of pancakes to be eaten all day with real maple syrup.
Woods says at every event they try to incorporate something about conservation into the event.
This year is no different as they feature “The incredible world of bugs” with hundreds of bug specimens from around the world.
It has hundreds of specimens and is one of only three collections in the world like this.
This display is on a 20 city tour and has never been in this area before.
Woods says to dress appropriately for the weather and a no charge bus is being offered from stops in Paisley.
Price of admission is 6 dollars for an adult 2 dollars for a child – the cost of pancakes and sausages is extra.
All proceeds from the event go towards local conservation programs and the event runs both days 10 AM until 4 PM.
