Students of Alexandra Community School in Owen Sound will have an extra long weekend.
The school and the daycare will remain closed Friday after a boiler explosion this week.
Classes were cancelled Wednesday and the main concern was air quality — since asbestos was used when the boilers were constructed.
But Bluewater Manager of Plant Services Dennis Dick says the air quality samples have come back negative.
So custodial staff will be cleaning the building in preparation for classes to resume on Monday.
Dick says the boiler room was contaminated with asbestos so it will be cleaned by a professional company.
Investigators from the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office and the Technical Standards and Safety Authority continue to look into the cause of the explosion.
