Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch slammed the new document from the Dalton McGuinty Liberals.
As usual Murdoch claims there is no mention of agriculture or rural Ontario in the document.
Murdoch tells Bayshore Broadcasting News, the Liberals say they have managed the economy responsibly, while running up the biggest deficit in Ontario history.
There is 310 million dollar increase in post secondary education funding to pay for 20-thousand new college and university spaces this fall, and increase foreign students by 50 per cent.
Ontario hospitals will only get a 1.5 per cent increase in funding in this year’s budget, below the minimum they were hoping for.
The best-case scenario was a two per cent boost, but critics had warned even that wouldn’t be enough to lift cash-strapped hospitals out of red ink.
RNAO President Doris Grinspun is somewhat positive on the budget.
She tells Bayshore Broadcasting News the 1.5 percent increase is a start.
But the government must ensure the money goes into front line health care, like hiring more nurses.
