The South Bruce Grey Health Centre board needs to be more transparent.
That’s the underlining message from an independent consultant’s report released last night at the Davidson Centre.
The 70-plus page document – that Friends of the Kincardine Hospital paid for – suggests CEO Paul Davies be stripped of any voting powers and that voting rights be given back to regular board members.
It also calls for an open and transparent board selection process.
Consultant Harold Schroeder used the term “old boys club,” when he described the way most people they surveyed felt about the current members.
The SBGHC board will have a chance to review the report when they meet with the Friends of the Kincardine Hospital group.
Friends spokesperson Barb Fisher says that initial meeting will not be open to the public or reporters.
When asked why a group seeking more transparency would block the public from that first meeting, Fisher said it’s behind closed doors because it’s a working meeting.
She says a joint public meeting is likely to stem from what they discuss in private.
