The Hanover Fire Department has a new piece of life saving equipment that has already been put to good use.
The automatic external defibrillator was used for the very first time last month and was successful in reviving a non responsive individual without a pulse.
As a first responder, Fire Chief Ken Roseborough says it makes good medical sense for fire departments to be equipped with this life saving technology.
This is because the fire department is often the first one on the scene of a accident, emergency or disaster.
Roseborough says the automatic defibrillator unit also provide internal protection in the event one of the firefighters has a heart attack on the job.
The automatic external defibrillator unit was donated to the Hanover Fire Department by the Heart and Stroke Foundation in November.
Hanover was one of the last municipalities in Grey County to receive an automatic defibrillator unit.
