Ottawa is pumping money into the Fathom Five National Marine Park.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller was in Tobermory on Friday to announce 1.9 million dollars in funding for the popular tourist destination.
Miller says over half a million people visit the National Marine Park on the Bruce Peninsula each year, and they hope to grow that number.
The money is in addition to one million dollars a year ago, and will be being used to upgrade campground facilities there and at Cyprus Lake.
Parking will be also improved for visitors to the Grotto, which is becoming a “world-Class” tourist destination.
Miller adds there will be work done on the trails and improvements to the washroom and shower facilities at the Fathom Five park.
The local MP was making the announcement for Environment Minister Jim Prentice.
MP Larry Miller says the funding is part of the governments Action Plan to get the economy moving.
He says it will benefit local people and local contractors.
