It’s definitely spring conditions at Blue Mountain Resort these days.
Resort Spokesperson Kelly O’Neil says they still have 35 of 36 runs open though, which she says may be a bit of a surprise to people who have lost all of the snow in their backyards.
O’Neil says there is still a 70 centimetre snow base on the hills as well.
She says the temperature drops after 5 PM, which means the resort is able to maintain some of that base overnight.
The last night of night skiing is Sunday, March 21st.
O’Neil says they are doing the best with what they have, and adds that the resort is pretty happy with the season so far, and where they stand at this point.
She says the closing date is always contingent on weather conditions, so if there is snow, they will be open.
O’Neil says Blue Mountain is looking optimistically over the next week or two, and adds that they will re-evaluate the conditions after night skiing is shut down to see how far they can stretch the snow for the remainder of the season.
