A man from Southgate Township is in hospital after being bitten in the face by a wild dog or possible coyote.
Grey County OPP received information the animal came onto the man’s property on Grey Road 9 west of Dundalk around 12:30 PM yesterday.
Police say the man — not realizing the animal was wild — approached it and was bitten in the face.
The animal escaped into the woods.
The 53 year old victim was rushed to Markdale hospital and later transferred to Victoria hospital in London.
The Ministry of Natural Resources, Ministry of Health and Animal Control have all been contacted.
Police are advising residents in the area of the attack, and asking them to be cautious when outdoors.
