Bruce County council is coming through in a big way for its municipalities.
Warden Mike Smith says the 2010 county budget will be passed on April 1st with a zero per cent tax increase.
He says that means for the average homeowner with a property assessed at 167 thousand dollars, your taxes would actually drop by about one dollar.
Smith says it was important to county council to come in with a zero per cent increase.
He says with the uploading of social services to the province and with the economy there was just no appetite to go to taxpayers and ask for more money.
Smith says the 2010 budget is one that the county can be proud of.
He says they started with a 6 to 8 per cent increase but made it clear that they wanted to get that as close to zero as possible and staff came through.
Smith says they did not cut any services and have two ongoing infrastructure projects, the West Road and the Nagg’s Bridge.
