Plans are in motion to add a 150 megawatt wind turbine addition to the Kingsbridge Wind Power Project.
The second phase is also located in the township of Ashfield – Colborne – Wawanosh.
If all goes as planned, Capital Power Rep Lori Wilson says construction could start in 2012 and finished in late 2013.
Of course, “It all depends on a number of factors” says Wilson, who was speaking at their first public meeting in Lucknow on Tuesday evening.
She says they need approval from the Ontario Power Authority.
Capital Power also has to get their Renewable Energy Approval – which takes all provincial permitting and rolls it into one process.
If approved, the project would have a name plate capacity of 270 megawatts of renewable energy.
People we spoke to in Lucknow had mixed feelings about the plan.
One retired couple wants more health impact studies done before they decide to lease their land to Capital Power.
A father of four boys is happy to see more turbines potentially coming to ACW.
He hopes one day we will be producing them here in Ontario – which he add’s would be a good job for his boys.
