Two Hanover residents are getting some much deserved praise.
Former Councillor and retired teacher Alvin Grein is this year’s Lifetime Achievement winner in Hanover.
Over the years — Grein has volunteered in a number of capacities — from his church to tourism to the Saugeen Conservation Authority to the airport and legion.
Grein refers to his 14 years on council as the highlight of his volunteer time, because this was the time he was able to do the most.
The Citizen of the Year winner is John Grant who has also played an active roll with the community.
Since moving to Hanover 22 years ago, Grant says his company does what it can to help out.
This includes his personal involvement with the Police Board and his past work with the Hospital Board, the Kinsmen club and the Hanover Chamber of Commerce.
Grant notes the people of Hanover have been so good to him and his grocery store that it’s only natural for him to return the favour.
His store also sponsors many events such as the popular Christmas in the Country.
