It’s full steam ahead for Hanover’s 7th and 8th Avenue water and sewer extension project.
It’s going to impact 54 households on the north end of town.
The majority of these households are in Hanover but it will also run by a few Brockton homes as well.
Water and sewer service hookups are mandatory for the Hanover households and residents have three years to comply.
It’s going to cost about 5 thousand dollars per household.
Councillor Bob White is pleased with the project and says it’s about time Hanover’s newest residents enjoyed the convenience of municipal water and sewer services.
These residents became part of Hanover a decade ago during amalgamation when their Bentinck land was annexed onto Hanover.
Many of these homes already have the water hook up, it’s just a matter of hooking into the sewer system for most.
White hopes residents can afford the 5 thousand dollar cost.
If not, he says Hanover is willing to work with homeowners to make the payments as easy as possible.
The 3.15 million dollar project is a shared venture between the federal and provincial governments as well as the town of Hanover.
Engineering work is currently underway and construction on the project will begin this summer.
