It’s International Women’s Day.
A number of events are being held around the region today.
The Women’s Centre of Grey and Bruce hosted a breakfast with Owen Sound Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners Monday morning at the Best Western Inn on the Bay.
And In Saugeen Shores, the Women’s House serving Bruce and Grey is hosting a special meeting with a special speaker.
Fresh from her analyst duties at the Vancouver Olympics for CTV, Elizabeth Manley will be here to talk on “Leading Through Resiliency.”
Manley tells Bayshore Broadcasting News she’s fortunate to be able to tell this story of her life.
She says her life has been a roller coaster, even before she became a celebrity and winning a silver medal in the 1988 Calgary games.
Manley says she’s had health problems but she always managed to come back and now she hopes to be a role model for women.
She says if her story inspires just one person to turn their life around, she feels she’s done her job.
Manley says that will be her message at tonight’s meeting which takes place at the CAW Family Education Centre.
Doors open at 5:15 PM with dinner at 6 PM followed by entertainment and Manley’s address.
Throughout the day today, Manley is also visiting the Port Elgin and Kincardine Herbal Magic outlets as she is the current spokesperson for Herbal Magic.
