A whole lot of bowling going on in the area this weekend.
Bowling fundraiser’s for Big Brothers and Big Sisters are being held in Kincardine, Owen Sound, Hanover, and Meaford.
Owen Sound’s Big Brother Bowl a Thon happens today at the Westside Bowl starting at 1 PM.
The president of the Big Brothers Association of Owen Sound, Andy McKee, says both teams and individuals are welcome to play.
One of the biggest draws in the Owen Sound event is the Murdoch challenge.
A 20 dollar gives you a chance to try and beat the score posted by MPP Bill Murdoch.
McKee says last year the event raised 18 to 20 thousand dollars and this year’s goal is the same.
In Hanover the event gets underway Sunday and is called the Bowl for Kids Sake with proceeds going to both the Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
Case work Sally Kormann says it is the 22nd annual event and it takes place at Lightning Lanes starting on Sunday and then running again on Wednesday and Thursday.
Also at 11 AM Sunday — a showdown of mayors is planned, featuring the mayors from Brockton, Charlie Bagnato and West Grey, Kevin Eccles.
Bagnato says no matter who wins, it’s about supporting a worthy cause.
Kormann says the event features bowling with West Grey Mayor Kevin Eccles and the citizen of the year.
She hopes to raise around 37 thousand dollars.
In Kincardine the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Bowl a thon happens Saturday from 3 PM until 9 PM and Sunday 10 AM until 5 PM at Bruce Bowling Lanes.
Kincardine it is the 25th annual event with hopes from organizers to raise 30-thousand dollars.
The Meaford event goes Saturday at Meaford Bowl in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Georgian Triangle.
