This is decision day for Owen Sound Council.
A special meeting will be held at 4:30 PM today where Council will discuss the next steps for the 38 million dollar Regional Recreation Centre.
On the table is a tender to begin excavation and servicing work at Victoria Park — the site of the rec centre.
Dozens of people packed the Bayshore Community Centre Monday night to get an assurance that Council is still committed to the project.
There are concerns the City will lose out on infrastructure funding since the work will not be complete by March of next year.
That means the city could be on the hook for more than 17 million dollars instead of the original 9 million according to Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners.
But City officials are confident they will be granted an extension.
Work would then begin on the site within two weeks.
