Not everyone is happy with a proposal for a Hyundai dealership on Highway 26 in front of Collingwood’s ethanol plant.
About 20 people turned out for a public meeting on Monday night and five people expressed concerns with the proposed zoning amendment.
One of them was the Chair of the Collingwood East Environmental Action Committee, Peter Case.
Case says he and the homeowners he represents don’t have any problems with a car dealership in the area, but they are troubled by a proposal to reduce the buffer zone between Amaizeingly Green and the dealership.
Case says a buffer is needed to keep homes and businesses near the ethanol plant safe if there was ever an explosion or big fire.
He adds he would like the town to do a feasibility study before any decisions on the application are made.
The proposed Walker Automotive dealership is expected to create 28 jobs if the plans go through.
