Georgian College students across Ontario will be relieved to hear their year will not be disrupted by a strike.
The Ontario Labour Relations Board confirms that a slim majority of teachers accepted what the colleges called their final offer.
OPSEU, representing the 9 thousand faculty across the province says its disappointed, but not surprised.
Negotiator Ted Montgomery says the vote should not be seen as an endorsement of the offer.
He says very few of their members thought the contract was good but they just don’t want to go on strike.
Montgomery says issues such as workload and wages will “fester now for two and a-half years.”
The College negotiator calls the result good news for students, faculty and communities.
The strike deadline was postponed after the final results of the vote earlier this month were too close to call.
Officials counted the remaining 300 mail in ballots on Wednesday.
