It was a blanket that caused the fire that destroyed a century old building in Stayner..
Clearview Fire Chief Dave Carruthers says the blanket was left near a heat source, and that’s what sparked the fire at the historic building on February 9th.
One Stop Realty and Diane’s Barbershop, along with residential apartments, were all housed in the 100 year old building on Main Street.
Carruthers says it’s his understanding that the building will be demolished, but he adds that decision is up to the insurance company.
He says damage to the building was around 300 or 400 thousand dollars.
