It’s a dream come true for a teenager from Owen Sound.
Emily Doherty will star in Tuesday’s episode of The Tyra Banks Show.
Doherty says she always been a huge fan of Tyra Banks and actually formed a Super Fan group with four other girls.
News of the group eventually made it to the show’s producers and they decided to have the girls tape an episode.
Doherty says she was ecstatic when she got a phone call from the producers asking if she had a passport.
The 16 year old and her mother were flown to New York City in early February where she got the star treatment, getting her hair, make up, and wardrobe done and taping different segments of the show.
Doherty says the episode helps launch Banks’ Beauty Inside and Out campaign, which aims to expand the idea of beauty in our society.
Doherty says when she got onto the stage and saw Banks, she started to cry with excitement.
But Doherty says the best moment of all was when she was told Banks wanted to meet her after the taping.
She was taken to the star’s dressing room where she gave Banks a scrapbook.
Doherty’s episode will air Tuesday at 4 PM on City TV.
Doherty now lives in Waterloo but she grew up in Owen Sound and her grandparents still live here.
