A renowned sculptor is relocating to the Kincardine area.
Gino Cavicchioli is moving from Hamilton to Kinloss.
He says the quiet rural environment makes it easier for him to do his work — plus he thinks Kincardine is a gorgeous place.
Cavicchioli is the official sculptor for the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and has done 41 portraits of past inductees, including Mike “Pinball” Clemons and Doug Flutie.
He also does monuments – a year and a half ago he did a bust of former Ontario Lieutenant Governor Lincoln Alexander.
Cavicchioli just finished a triple life-sized portrait of singer Gordon Lightfoot.
He says he likes celebrating Canadian icons– the people who have inspired him and the rest of the country.
Cavicchioli has also done a portrait sculpture of Hamilton businessman and philanthropist Charles Juravinski and his wife Margaret, who also have connections to Kincardine.
Charles Juravinski owns all of the land at the Bruce Energy Centre industrial park and is hoping to boost development at the site.
