It’s been more than a month since the massive earthquake in Haiti – but residents of the quake ravaged county still need help finding shelter.
To help, the Sauble Christian Fellowship Church is organizing “Tents for Haiti.”
Church Member Murray Gosstick says if you’ve got an old tent in your garage or basement that is in good shape – they want it.
He says the tents must be in good condition with working zippers, polls and without tears in them.
Gosstick says the church is also buying new tents – So you can make a financial donation as well.
Gosstick says it is crucial to get more shelter to Haiti because their rainy season begins in April and lasts for about 3 to 4 months.
He adds the main cement plant that provides the cement foundations for homes in Haiti was destroyed in the quake.
The tents will be sent to Haiti through Feed The Children (FTC) Canada in Guelph.
Gosstick says they will take just about any kind of tent you may have – whether it’s a two person or ten person tent.
About 50 Sauble Christian Fellowship members were doing missionary work with “the Mission of Hope” in Haiti when the earthquake struck.
Tent drop off stations are located at the Salvation Army in Owen Sound, Aitken Brothers Harware Store in Allenford, Shoreline Stone and Garden in Port Elgin, the Sauble Christian Fellowship Church or Murray Gossticks home on Bruce County Road 33.
To have your tent picked up or to donate financially call the Sauble Christian Fellowship Church 519-422-1437.
