It’s good news for a low income and second stage housing project in Wiarton.
An Ontario Municipal Board hearing has dismissed an objection to the project at a special hearing earlier this week.
South Bruce Peninsula Mayor Gwen Gilbert is thrilled with the news and says construction of the project now can get underway right away.
She says the project consists of three units of second stage housing for women and the other will see six units of low income housing.
The buildings will be located on Charles Street near the Salvation army building.
She says there was an urgency to get this projects underway as the 600 thousand dollars in government funding the project received had to be spent by the end of March.
Gilbert says there is a desperate need for second stage housing in the community as Women who have been subjected to violence now have to leave the area to seek shelter.
