Just waiting for the building permits for the new Town Hall in Blue Mountains — and then all is a-go.
Town Planning and Building Director David Finbow says the new town hall is a lofty project with 4.6 million of the tab being covered by Infrastructure Stimulus Fund Program.
Finbow says the site concept has been confirmed which will include a beautiful large park like setting that will include a splash pad and an outdoor skating loop.
Finbow says once the building permits are set construction should begin by mid march – and will take about nine months to complete.
He hopes all the staff will be moved into the new building by Spring 2011.
The March 31st, 2011 building deadline must be met to receive the funding money.
The total cost of the build is about 8.4 million.
Finbow says the town has hired Chamberlain Construction Services for construction managers as well as for site supervision and general labour supervision.
Finbow says this project is a long time coming as they have known they needed a larger office space for almost 5 years.
