The Owen Sound resident known for his great escapes is in Switzerland for a test of his abilities today.
Owen Sound escape artist Steve Santini will attempt an escape from a castle dungeon at Chateau de Chillon.
Santini says what is very unique about this escape is that he will escape medieval restraints and be surrounded by only objects that would have been in the cell in the 15th and 16th century.
Santini says he will be able to manoeuvre to use the other objects in the cell to help his escape – such as wooden bowls and spoons.
He has not given himself a certain time limit and the Swiss media will be filming the escape for an upcoming television series.
Santini says his stubbornness will help him get over the pain of the restraints and thinking outside the box.
He also adds the dungeons are very cold at this time of the year and he will be wearing the same clothing that a prisoner would have worn in the 15th century so temperature will be and issue.
Santini says after this escape he will attempt during the trip to Europe another escape.
The second Swiss escape is being caged in a medieval iron cage that was used to burn people accused of witchcraft.
Santini says he will be hoisted in the cage over a slow burning fire where he will attempt his escape.
Santini has escaped several Canadian historic prisons and also recently organized the Owen Sound Zombie walk this past October.
