South Bruce Peninsula plans to move ahead with the same location for the proposed Wastewater Treatment plant at Sauble Beach.
Close to 40 residents attended the Committee of the Whole meeting on Tuesday to talk to the engineer about the project.
They voiced their concern about the location of the plant — just behind Fedy Drive off of the D-line.
Mayor Gwen Gilbert feels the meeting went well and the engineer answered any concerns from the residents.
The town’s main case pointed to the environmental assessment for the project that showed the Fedy Drive location as the most favourable site.
The Committee of the Whole recommended the third reading of the bylaw for the project go before Council next Tuesday.
Gilbert wants to move ahead with the project.
Gilbert notes a sewer system for Sauble Beach has been talked about for 30 years and it’s time to move ahead with the plan.
The estimated cost for the Wastewater Treatment Plant is between 10 and 12 million dollars.
South Bruce Peninsula has secured 6.24 million dollars in government funding — leaving almost 4 million to be covered by the users.
