Bruce Power has some explaining to do to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.
Late last November at the Bruce A Unit One refurbishing — it was discovered that several workers were exposed to alpha radiation.
At that time the number of workers was 19 but that has ballooned to 217, according to figures released by the CNSC.
Bruce Power spokesperson John Peevers says final results of testing have not come back yet but initial indications are the levels of exposure were within safety limits.
The Globe and Mail is reporting that this incident is believed to be one of the larges mass exposures to radiation at a Canadian nuclear site.
Bruce Power is saying the paper is being overly dramatic in its description.
Bruce Power will meet with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission tomorrow to further discuss the issue.
Meanwhile, John Peevers reports the area in question has been cleaned up and workers were back on job at Unit One, late last week.
