He is not as old as some of the books at the Hanover Library — but Chief Librarian Bill VanKeuren has been there for many years.
Now “Mr. Bill” is preparing to leave the job he has loved.
After 25 years of service — Hanover’s Chief Librarian Bill VanKeuren will be bidding his final adieu at the end of the month.
VanKeuren has witnessed a lot of exciting changes in the library over this time.
With the advances in technology — he says the library is offering services today that he never even imagined when he first began work two and a half decades ago.
VanKeuren says he will be taking a lot of treasured memories with him, the best involve his role as ‘ Mr. Bill ‘ in Mr. Bill’s Story Time.
He was first hired on at the library to head story time with the children, a role he kept all of these years even after he made chief librarian.
VanKeuren says its now time to pass the torch onto others who will find their own voice with the children.
Looking back VanKeuren counts himself as blessed to find such an inspiring and fulfilling career.
Hanover librarian Agnes Rivers-Moore will take over as chief librarian in March.
Before coming to Hanover she worked as a librarian in West Grey as well as London, England.
