The Province is allowing child care centres to reopen starting Friday June 12th with some restrictions
Today Premier Doug Ford said nothing is more important than the safety of children.
The restrictions will include the amount of children allowed in centres at one time and mean the facilities must meet stringent cleaning guidelines.
The space requirements will mean defined spaces with no more than 10 people in them.
Everyone in the centres will be screened for Covid-19 symptoms before entry and no visitors will be allowed.
The re-openings will also include the removal of toys that could spread germs.
Centres must also keep daily contact-tracing records
In-home child care providers must also work with enhanced health guidelines.
“There will be limits on the amount of children in the centres at one time,” said Ford. “There’ll be more screening and more cleaning and child care centre will be able to reopen once they meet these guidelines.”
Parents will be kept informed as the process unfolds.
Penalties will increase per day for guidelines going unmet and inspections will be stepped up
Ford says the stress on parents is huge during the this new normal.
But he believes families will emerge from the pandemic stronger than ever.
Emergency child care will start to phase out June 26th.
First Responders will remain a top priority for regular childcare spaces then too.
Summer Day Camps are also allowed to reopen Friday as long as they meet the guidelines set out for them.
