A conference that focuses on the future of the health in our community is coming up this spring.
The conference is calling on the help of the community.
Building a Healthy Community is the reason for a spring conference being held in Owen Sound.
The Healthy Communities Conference 2010 – slated for May 1st and 2nd – is looking for people who are involved in the health community and making it better to submit abstracts to be possible presenters at the conference.
Linda Bumstead – Program Manager Chronic Disease Prevention Grey Bruce Health Unit – says the health of the community depends on everything from what we eat and drink – to viable transportation.
Bumstead hopes to see abstracts submitted from people in those fields — health, transportation, food and agriculture, education and anything to keep our community healthy.
Bumstead says the conference is a partnership between the Grey Bruce Health Unit, Owen Sound, Meaford, Blue Mountains and both the public and catholic schoolboards.
Bumstead says the cutoff for submission for abstracts is February 12th.
Those that are chosen as presenters at the conference will be notified March 1st.
Bumstead hopes they get a wide variety of presenters at the May conference as they are many ways to keep the community health both inwards and outwards.
More information can be obtained by contacting the health unit and a 300 written word submission must be made with the abstract.
