Is this a Canadian issue? No!
Is there room for improvement internationally in some countries? Absolutely.
That, in a nutshell is the reaction of Bruce Power to a Canadian think tank that calls for tighter security in the nuclear industry.
Bruce Power spokesperson John Peevers says Bruce Power and its Canadian regulator, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission take the issue very seriously.
He says the Tiverton company can account for every fuel bundle ever used at the facility for the past 30-years.
Peevers says Bruce Power’s security team has been recognized world-wide for the work it does.
He says security at the plant was stepped up following 9/11 and has never stepped down from that alert.
The Centre for International Governance Innovation says there are problems keeping track of nuclear materials.
It says they have to be remedied to prevent dangerous materials from getting into the wrong hands.
