The Community Improvement Plan for downtown Port Elgin is now complete.
The process began back in July 2008 with a series of meeting and open houses.
Saugeen Shores Councillor Luke Charbonneau says streetscape, building facade improvements and accessibility are a couple of the things the plan focuses on.
He says they don’t want to dictate how buildings should look, but there should be colours and styles that compliment each other and preserve heritage.
Charbonneau says there is a lot of support in the downtown area for making it look good, feel good, and develop as an attractive market for business.
He says council has agreed to let the process continue with a mandatory public meeting on the plan.
That will likely take place in early March and Charbonneau hopes the plan is quickly approved by council after that time.
