A new bridge on the CP Rail Trail is now officially open.
The bridge north of Markdale is part of the Rail Trail that runs from Owen Sound south to Dundalk.
The old bridge was closed in August due to safety concerns.
With help from members of the Klondyke Trail Groomers Snowmobile Club and the Dufferin Grey ATV Club, a new bridge was installed in mid December, prior to the opening of snowmobile season.
Grey county officials say “Fleshcon” donated two concrete abutments and
Markdale Ford Tractor allowed use of its property for the decking of the bridge.
Chair of the CP Rail Management Committee, Brian Mullin says without the assistance of those groups, the trail would have been closed for the winter season.
The official opening took place at 3 PM Friday, west of Highway 10 on Sideroad 80 in the Municipality of West Grey.
