If you are looking for a mini vacation this weekend — consider attending Owen Sound’s 8th annual Reel Festival.
The movie festival is a fundraiser for the Tom Thomson art gallery in Owen Sound and features five independent films over the weekend.
Manager of Public Programs – David Huff – says there are a few different options for tickets for the event running at the Galaxy Cinemas.
Huff says there is the weekend pass which will get you into all five movies, as well as an opening reception and a Sunday brunch.
He adds you can also purchase tickets to a single movie as well – tickets being sold as of today at the Galaxy Cinemas.
Huff says the line up for the festival is impressive with two viewings of each film
The festival starts Friday at 4 PM with “Cooking with Stella”.
Huff says its a role reversal movie where the Canadian couple faces the man staying at home with the baby and is a chef — the woman a diplomat.
The festival continues Saturday with documentary “Inside Hana’s Suitcase” and follows with “Creation”.
Sunday features a French film with subtitles about the Montreal Canadiens and two boys who come together because of their love of the game and team.
The film is entitled “Pour Toujours, les Canadiens”.
Huff says the festival closes with “The Young Victoria” – a film that usually would not be seen in Owen Sound – but only in Toronto.
Huff says this is a smaller version of a festival that would run in a more metropolitan atmosphere.
