The Mayor of Northern Bruce Peninsula says he hasn’t heard of any further progress with PRENEAL Canada’s efforts to build a 200 megawatt windfarm in the former Eastnor and Lindsay Townships.
Milt McIver says the company did have representatives in the area back in the summer.
He says leases were signed with landowners but he’s not sure how many.
McIver says the public in the area would like to have some involvement in the consultation process, and he thinks the opportunities for it under the Green Energy Act are limited.
He notes that Bruce County Council has expressed its opposition to the removal of the consultation process for wind projects that used to exist under the Planning Act.
The new windfarm would include 60 to 80 turbines.
