Preparations for the 2010 Tim Hortons Georgian Cup Snowcross races this weekend at Victoria Park in Owen Sound will shift into high gear this week.
The Canadian Snowcross Racing Association ( CSRA ) will bring their groomer to Victoria Park on Wednesday and the course for the weekend event will be created.
Event Co-chair Peter van Dolder states Victoria Park has ample snow on site, as more than 500 truckloads of snow have been deposited over the last week.
Now, the groomer will take the snow and form it into a course that features, bumps and jumps and curves designed to test the best snowcross drivers in North America.
In spite of the mild weather, van Dolder stresses Victoria Park has enough snow.
He hopes for additional accumulation this week, moreso for cosmetics sake, in order to make the course ” snow white ” as opposed to a dirty shade of snow.
Last weekend, Lindsay hosted a CSRA event which van Dolder attended with the Flying Dutchmen race team.
He noted the Lindsay site had less snow than what is currently at Victoria Park and thus, he believes the Owen Sound organizers will be able to build a tremendous course and challenge for the competitors.
The 2010 Tim Hortons Georgian Cup runs Saturday and Sunday at Victoria Park.
