It looks like our listeners aren’t fazed by the attempted bombing on board a plane Christmas Day.
The majority of respondents to our recent online news poll say they still feel safe in the air.
82 per cent of respondents say they feel safe flying after the attempted attack on December 25th.
One person says things are as safe as they’ve ever been and if we worry about what could happen we might as well just stay at home.
Another says they’re flying south this winter and not even giving it a second thought because what can happen in the air can also happen on the ground.
Yet another points out that driving a car is more dangerous than flying.
And another person believes the new security measures imposed after the attack mean we are much safer now.
Only 18 per cent of the respondents to our recent online poll say the attempted bombing scared them and they’re not ready to board a plane just yet.
One person says they really don’t feel safe because all the supposed safeguards at airports do not appear to be working.
There were a total of 45 respondents to our online news survey.
It was on Christmas Day that a would-be bomber boarded a Detroit-bound plane in Amsterdam with explosives in his underwear – but the device failed to ignite.
A Nigerian man – 23 year old Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab – has been arraigned on six charges, including the attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction.
He’s facing up to life in prison.
In response to the attempted attack, the government has announced plans to install 44 full-body scanners in airports across Canada.
