Despite a tough economic year, residents in Saugeen Shows showed they care in 2009 — about health care.
More than 104 thousand dollars was raised through the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation Light the Way campaign.
Campaign chair Dr. Claire Jeffery says their goal was 80 thousand and officials are more than pleased with the total.
Jeffery says 80 thousand will be used to purchase two new new electro-cardiogram machines for the emergency room.
The goal is to synchronize the computer system at the hospital when it comes to reporting and diagnosis.
The rest of the funds will remain at the Southampton hospital, though it’s unclear what the money will be used for.
Jeffery thanks all who made a donation to ensure another successful campaign.
