An update from the architect overseeing the 2.3 million dollar expansion of the Kincardine Community Medical Clinic.
Brent Whiteley of Parkin Architects says 1.1 million dollars worth of the project — or 50 per cent of the 46 week construction schedule — has been completed.
Whiteley says the basic envelope, or exterior of the building has been completed, and now construction crews are working on the interior walls.
He says that will give crews a heated space to work in for the rest of the winter season.
The new addition will include 16 new exam rooms, plus office space for doctors.
Whiteley says the next phase includes mechanical and electrical work, along with the renovation of the upper and lower levels of the existing clinic building.
He is also confident the project will be finished on budget.
Mayor Larry Kraemer says some of the new area will be ready for use at the end of April, and he is confident the entire project will be completed on schedule by July 1st.
As for the need to find doctors to work in the building, Kraemer says good news on that front is expected soon.
He notes progress has been made and two or three could be starting in the next few months.
