The Friends of the Kincardine Hospital has retained an independent consulting firm to do some research for them.
Friends spokesperson Barb Fisher says they asked the firm to recommend ways to improve how the needs of the Kincardine Hospital and residents can be better represented through the governance structure of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre.
Fisher says the Friends have tried for over a year and a half to come to terms with the hospital board and especially CEO Paul Davies in terms of how the facility can be operated to no avail.
She says Schroeder & Schroeder Consultants of Toronto have been retained at a cost of 10 thousand dollars, borne by the members of the Friends group.
Fisher points out that the consultant will talk to those interested on both sides of the issue with no pre-conceived goal of what the final report should say.
She says they expect a final report by the end of February.
Fisher says her group is prepared to accept the recommendations of the report and no direction has been given the firm as to how it should be written.
Fisher says she hopes if some members of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre board are asked to participate, that they will do so.
She says the centre’s board says they are transparent but Friends have not seen any evidence of that.
However, taking part in the consultant’s research would at least show an attempt at transparency.
Fisher says the consultants will choose who they talk to throughout the community and their identities will remain confidential.
She says that way everyone can say what’s on their mind truthfully.
