Despite a struggling economy Hanover managed to boast fairly decent building activity statistics for 2009.
A total of 95 permits were issued with a total construction value of 17.7 million dollars.
Hanover collected 256 thousand dollars in permit fees.
The construction activity included: 18 new residential homes, 17 commercial/ industrial projects, a permit for the new regional recreation centre and various residential renovation projects.
Overall the total number of building permits issued in 2009 was down by 11 permits.
However the value the 17.7 million dollars construction projects surpassed 2008s 11 million dollar total.
Hanovers new 8 million dollar plus regional recreation complex construction project certainly made a big impact on the towns overall construction value.
All in all, Tedford describes 2009 as a decent year for Hanover.
He forecasts another good year for building activity in 2010.
Hanover is anticipating the construction of more commercial development including a Honda Dealership, Boston Pizza, two new industrial buildings, and residential condominium units.
A decrease however is expected in the construction on new detached residential units.
