Plans to sell the former Queens Hotel land to Craft Development has fallen through.
Craft Development Corporation has withdrawn its proposal to purchase the property on the corner to 10th Street and 7th Avenue.
Their tenant a local pharmacy couldnt negotiate a release from their existing lease.
Chief Building Official Don Tedford calls the situation disappointing noting a lot of work went into the Craft Development agreement.
Nevertheless, Hanover will forge ahead with a request for new proposals.
Tedford says rather than just list the land for sale, Hanover prefers to advertise for development proposals.
In the meantime, Hanover in conjunction with Grey County will proceed with the construction of the right hand turn lane at that busy corner intersection.
Hopefully that new turning lane will be constructed this year.
Craft Development had originally planned to construct a 12 thousand square foot retail building on site of the former Queens Hotel land.
