The finals at the Rockstar Ski Cross Grand Prix are today at 1 PM at Blue Mountain Resort.
That’s followed by the awards ceremony at 2:35 PM.
This race at Blue Mountain is the second last event before the Olympics in Vancouver.
The last is in Lake Placid.
Chris Del Bosco is one of the skiers on Team Canada at the World Cup Event at Blue Mountain, and he says everyone on the team is fighting for Olympic spots.
He says that the selection date for Canada’s Ski Team for the Vancouver games in January 25th, and these last two races are their last chance to solidify their position, and get a spot for the games.
Del Bosco says ski cross has really grown as a sport since it was accepted into the Olympics, and says it’s really appealing to the spectators.
He says instead of racing against the clock, you are racing against other skiers on the course, so it’s first one down wins.
Del Bosco says a lot of the top athletes in ski cross are in their mid 30’s, but a lot of the athletes on Team Canada are younger, and have their sights set on the next winter Olympics in Russia.
