The sounds of the Owen Sound and District Pipe Band just got sweeter.
The group has received 15 thousand dollars from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Band Manager Perry Prescott says they will use the money to purchase some much needed instruments and uniform equipment.
Prescott says they need new drums, bagpipes, chanters and uniform vests.
He hopes the new equipment will help engage more youth in the community.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch says the grant will also help raise the profile of the band.
The Owen Sound and District Pipe Band is the oldest pipe band in Grey County — as it was established in the early 1960’s.
