A Queen to celebrate Willie is being sought again this year.
The Wiarton Willie Festival is looking for high school age girls to participate in the Queen of the Festival Pageant.
The pageant is January 29th at the Wiarton Community Centre at 7 PM.
Admission is 2-dollars and a non-perishable food item to go to the Salvation Army Food bank.
Girls must live in the area and be prepared to represent the Wiarton Willie Festival on prediction day — February 2nd — and throughout the festival and the year.
Organizer Matt Standan jokes that the participants can’t rule out being asked some “Willie History”.
The event is the unofficial start to the Festival so that the Queen can be present for the prediction ceremony.
Standan says interested participants can give the new festival office a call in order to register at 519-422-2457.
He says it will be an exciting year for the festival as it will run for an entire week with lots of new and exciting events.
The Wiarton Willie Festival runs February 2nd until Sunday February 7th.
