As support worldwide pours in for earthquake ravaged Haiti — the Red Cross Branch of Owen Sound Grey Bruce is helping in the efforts.
The office is collecting monetary donations to go to relief efforts but Community Services Coordinator Stephanie Murray says people seem to be more comfortable making on line donations.
Murray says this seems to be the trend since Hurricane Katrina and the Tsunami.
Murray says as the Red Cross was the first on the scene as they have a base already in Haiti but the worldwide organization is sending assessment team and donations.
She says the Canadian Red Cross will stay on the scene until no longer needed; in some cases that could take years.
The Canadian Red Cross is still in Indonesia helping with the tsunami relief efforts that began five years ago.
