Local internet providers aren’t happy about a decision by Bruce County Council.
Back in December, they decided to award a contract to improve broadband internet coverage to Bell Aliant.
Warden Mike Smith says they were acting on recommendation made by the Corporate Services Department.
He says they will revisit the issue at the committee level later this month and see what options they have to reconsider the earlier decision, including if it could be rescinded.
Smith says council has taken a position on it but they’ll listen and see if anything else can be done.
When the decision was made in December, Councillor Gwen Gilbert tried to have it deferred, but her admendment was defeated.
Funding for the broadband project was made available through the province’s Rural Economic Development program.
