Kincardine Council has selected a new steering committee to implement the municipality’s Natural Heritage Study.
Mayor Larry Kraemer wants to see the process of implementing the study go quickly and not get left to the next council to look after.
Kraemer doesn’t want to see development along the lakeshore held up any longer.
He hopes the committee’s work leads to an adoptable path forward.
Building and Planning Manager Michele Barr says the committee will be responsible for holding open houses, getting public input, and weighing options.
She says they will then present the implementation options to council to consider.
The steering committee will be made up of representatives from the Building Committee, the Bruce County Planning Department, the Saugeen Conservation Authority and the municipal Environment Committee.
The study of environmentally significant areas and features was first adopted by council last April.
