Grey Bruce Farmers Week in Elmwood is galloping into the weekend with Horse Day set for Sunday, Sheep Day tomorrow and Goat Day taking place today.
Grey County Agricultural Services Representative Ray Robertson says Goat Day has evolved into one of the most popular and well attended events of Farmers week.
He says the will be offering up virtual tours of several goat farms in the region including several in Holland which will allow producers check out different types of buildings and how some have been converted into a goat operation.
Robertson says Saturday will be Sheep day which also is very popular because Grey County is ranked number one in the province for sheep and goat production.
He says last year about 140 different producers attend the Sheep day events, which this year include seminars on traceability in the sheep flock and a look at the future of the industry over the next five years.
Sunday is Horse day and Robertson says that has turned into one of the more popular events during farmers week, with an adult show and a special interactive horse program for youth.
One of the seminars for Horse day is how to reduce your environmental hoofprint.
Grey Bruce farmers week will wrap up on Monday, which is Crop day and will see discussions about the economics of the cash crop industry and how convince the public to support local farmers.
